LE THEÂTRE
DES CALANQUES
It's a theatre at the edge of town.
Like a lookout eye south of Marseille, watching the city from the hills of Marseilleveyre, and the sea at its feet.
This eccentric perspective is also its vision and its guiding principle: here, there, a unique project is developing, born from the desire to bring together the performing arts and the local area, the people who live here, and those who discover it. Guided by this connection, naturally both inside and outside, the Théâtre des Calanques and the artists who work there offer spectators a physical experience of live performance: conviviality, exchange, discovery of forms and styles, production, creation, a plurality of offerings, and a commitment to more sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.

The Théâtre des Calanques is the story of a company, the NoNo theatre, which settled in the pines of the Campagne Pastré, in 2008, with its large wooden big top, to write a new page in its artistic history.
An audience has formed, more than just spectators: friends. Friends of the theatre. They have returned, in greater numbers.
In 2017, a new theatre was built, also made of wood. It is warmer in winter and cooler in summer, when shows are performed there.
A troupe, young creation, international tours, artistic partnerships, hosted companies, travels in nature and across the territories of the Region, the spirit of celebration and sharing: the Calanques theatre remains this great wooden vessel where utopias are taken seriously, where nothing is impossible even on days of strong winds on the future of artistic and cultural adventures led by artists, and those who accompany them.
A theatre is a place where each day writes a story, and traces a path.
A theatre is where people come to watch other people who sometimes talk and sometimes dance and sometimes remain silent.
A theatre is the diversity of life. Life seen through the lens of a telescope. The enduring nature of the moment.
A theatre is a beautiful place to tell stories…
